Hyderabad, August 22: The Telangana High Court on Saturday reserved its verdict on a disqualification petition against Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender.
A bench headed by Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh said it will pronounce the verdict on September 16.
BRS leaders challenged the Speaker’s decision to dismiss disqualification petitions against MLAs who switched parties.
During the hearing, BRS counsel K. Vivek Reddy and Gandra Mohan Rao argued that Nagender won the Khairatabad seat on a BRS ticket.
They said Nagender later joined the Congress and contested the Lok Sabha election as a Congress candidate.
The BRS lawyers argued that the evidence clearly showed Nagender had changed parties. However, the Speaker rejected the disqualification petition despite the evidence, they submitted.
Counsel representing the defected MLAs disputed the allegations and maintained that Nagender remained with the BRS.
After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court reserved its verdict. The court will pronounce its decision on September 16.
