New Delhi, Oct. 16: The BJP is preparing to launch a nationwide campaign next week to counter what it describes as misleading claims by the Congress over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The proposed campaign will focus on public outreach to explain the BJP’s position and respond to questions and allegations raised by opposition parties about the revision process and the Election Commission’s functioning.
BJP SIR Campaign to Use Leaders and Social Media
BJP MPs, MLAs and other party leaders are likely to be assigned responsibilities for outreach in their respective constituencies. The campaign is expected to combine public interactions with social media and other digital communication platforms.
The party is preparing a 24-page document containing responses to opposition questions and allegations. It is expected to serve as reference material for leaders and party workers during public meetings and outreach programmes.
The BJP also plans to highlight what it alleges were instances of institutional misuse during previous Congress-led governments. Party leaders intend to use these examples to respond to the opposition’s criticism and present the BJP’s account of the functioning of constitutional institutions.
The campaign comes amid an ongoing political debate over the SIR process and the role of the Election Commission. The BJP aims to communicate its arguments nationwide through constituency-level engagement and digital platforms.
