Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has ridiculed the plans of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to float a third front as an alternate to Congress and BJP.
Addressing public meetings at Bodhan and Nizamabad as part of 4th day of Praja Chaitanya Yatra on Sunday, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused KCR of enacting a new drama to divert people’s attention from his failures. He said KCR has failed miserably to resolve the problems being faced by the people in Telangana during the last four years and now he wants to launch himself in the national politics. He said KCR has been an undeclared ally of BJP for the last four years. Now both BJP and TRS are jointly playing mind games to distract people’s attention from their failures.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that it is strange that KCR is calling Prime Minister Narender Modi both a friend and rival in the same breath. He said KCR’s talk of third front was nothing but a game plan to cover up TRS Government’s failures in getting justice for Telangana in Central funds. He said KCR’s criticism on BJP Government was also aimed at cheating the Muslims whom he promised 12% reservation, but failed to implement it.
The TPCC chief asked Muslims to realise that only Congress party was capable of defeating BJP at the national level. He said neither KCR nor MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi could defeat PM Modi in next elections. “If you want to stop the saffron brigade being led by PM Modi, then you will have to vote for Congress party and strengthen Rahul Gandhi,” he said.
He said KCR has supported BJP Government in all its moves. He supported BJP in Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections. He preferred a candidate of RSS background over Meira Kumar, who played a key role in formation of Telangana. KCR did not allow opposition MLAs to speak against PM Modi on demonitisation and GST issue. Now he is announcing that he himself will fight against Modi, he said.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Praja Chaitanya Yatra of Congress party has been receiving overwhelming response wherever it passed through. He said elections are likely to be held in December this year and all Congress workers should work hard to bring the party to power.
The TPCC chief slammed KCR for his failure to honour promises of a Dalit CM, three acres land for Dalit families, job for each household and 12% quota for Muslims and STs. He reminded that that KCR had promised to revive Bodhan Sugar Factory after coming to power. However, he said nothing was done by the TRS Government to revive the factory and instead, it led to its total closure leaving several families on street. He promised that the factory would be revived after Congress comes to power.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the erratic implementation of crop loan waiver schemes did more damage than good to farmers. He said KCR did not even console any of families of nearly 4,000 farmers who committed suicide. Similarly, he said that the TRS Government has played with the lives of lakhs of students by not clearing the dues of fee reimbursement scheme.
The TPCC chief strongly criticised KCR Government for not honouring the promise of 12% Muslim reservation. He said TRS MPs did not speak a word in the Parliament during the last four years for Muslim quota. However, now they are enacting the drama that they would fight with the BJP Government.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government did not give any judicial powers to Wakf Board and not an inch of encroached Wakf land was restored. He also called the ceiling of Wakf Board office and seizure of records in November last year as a cover up for some big irregularity. He also accused KCR of neglecting Urdu language and said not a single Urdu translator or teacher has been appointed during the last four years.
The meetings were also addressed by senior leaders including K. Jana Reddy, Shabbir Ali, Sudarshan Reddy, Taher Bin Hamdan and others.
Earlier in the day, Uttam Kumar Reddy resumed the bus yatra after performing special pooja at his residence in Banjara Hills. He was given a traditional send off by his wife and MLA Padmavathi Reddy. Enroute, Uttam Kumar Reddy also addressed street corner meetings at Jeedimetla and other areas. (Maxim News)
