Hyderabad, Jan.24 (Maxim News): All arrangements have been made for counting of votes of municipal elections on Saturday, State Election Commissioner V Nagi Reddy said today.
Addressing the media here, the SEC said the results will be made available by Saturday evening. The elections held for 129 Urban Local Bodies on January 22 and average vote percentage was about 71. The voter turnout in nine municipal nine municipal corporations was 58.83 per cent and that of municipalities was 74.40 percent, he said. He also clarified that if same number of votes were polled for two candidates, the winner will be elected through a lottery. The vote counting officials will be on the job from 8 am in all the counting centers, he added.
Nagi Reddy said political parties have to submit form A and B to the election officials for indirect selection of Mayors and chairpersons for the ULBs by January 26 at 11 am and on January 27 at 10am. The parties have to inform to State Election Commission by January 26 at 11 am for smooth process.
The local MPs, MLAs and MLCs will be ex-officio members can cast their votes in the selection of Mayors and chairpersons. They have to give options if more ULBs come under their purview. (Maxim News)
