Hyderabad, July 23 (Maxim News): The Kisan Cell of the Congress party today demanded that the State government initiate steps for assessment of the total flood losses in Telangana State.
The State president of the cell Anvesh Reddy said the officials of the State government should tour all the affected areas to assess the losses. He demanded that the State government pay compensation of ₹25,000 to the flood victims besides paying money for levelling the lands. He told the State government that the cotton and Maize farmers had completely lost their crops. He said the crops spread over 20 lakh acres of land had been damaged due to the recent floods. He alleged that the State government was hiding the details of the flood losses and added that the officials of the NDRF were taking to the district Collectors and other officials but not with the farmers of the State.
Speaking to media persons at the State party headquarters, Reddy said the crops from the undivided Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Adilabad districts had been completely damaged due to the floods. He said they had toured the affected areas in the State for four days to assess the losses. He said the transformers of Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla projects were washed away due to the floods. He alleged that neither the officials of the State government nor the ruling party leaders visited the flood affected areas to console the victims. He warned the State government that they would hold protests if the State government did not fulfil their demands. (Maxim News)
