Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 2 (Maxim News): Many people are losing their lives in road accidents. If those injured in accidents receive timely medical treatment, their lives can be saved. The first hour of a road accident is called the golden hour. If proper medical treatment is provided during this time, about 50 percent of deaths can be prevented. With this in mind, the Central Government has introduced the PM RAHAT (Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment) scheme. It provides immediate and cashless medical treatment to road accident victims.
Every accident victim will receive free cashless medical treatment up to a maximum of Rs 1,50,000. This scheme is applicable regardless of the category of road on which the accident occurs, including national highways, state highways, and ordinary roads in cities.
This scheme is applicable to all citizens of India. There is no need to register or pay any premium for this. The hospital will verify the details through Aadhaar card or any government ID card.
Helpline number 112..
Immediately after an accident, victims and anyone present can call the 112 helpline number to get ambulance assistance, as well as the details of the nearest identified hospital. The government will pay for the expenses incurred by the hospitals through the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund. (Maxim News)
