Hyderabad, Aug 14 (Maxim News): (DGP) Director General of Police, CV Anand stated that cybercrime has increased in the state, especially among retired employees and senior citizens. Police have taken active steps to ensure cyber safety awareness among citizens, especially those highly affected by cybercrimes and frauds, who were invited to participate in the ‘Suraksha ka Tiranga’ programme.
“The nature of crime is evolving; a few years ago, robberies were rampant, while today the scenario has changed with rampant narcotic cases and cybercrime,” stated Anand.
The DGP further stated that students and young minds were easily caught in narcotic cases and had jeopardized their future. Besides social crimes, crimes committed in cyberspace were also reported, with victims being embarrassed to report cases due to societal stigma and negative outlook.
Furthermore, DGP stated that approximately 40 different types of cybercrimes had been identified by the police, with investment fraud being the most prevalent crime. Even though the department makes persistent efforts to fight such illegal practices, cyber-criminals are always evolving with innovative strategies to trap innocent people. (Maxim News)
