Hyderabad, Mar 19 (Maxim News): Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy criticised BRS president and Leader of Opposition K. Chandrashekhar Rao for not attending the Assembly during the ongoing budget session. He raised the issue while speaking during the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address.
The Chief Minister said the absence of the former Chief Minister had a financial cost. He stated that since December 1, 2023, KCR received ₹1,06,56,674 in salaries and allowances despite not attending legislative proceedings.
Revanth Reddy said, “We need to take a firm decision against the practice of drawing salaries and allowances without attending the House.” He also said the government expected the former Chief Minister to give suggestions. He added that KCR also did not attend the unveiling of the Telangana Thalli statue. He described this as “neglect and arrogance.”
Revanth Reddy also criticised the previous BRS government. He accused its leadership of continuing “autocratic tendencies” even after losing power. He said, “Even though kingdoms have vanished, we are still witnessing autocratic rulers. The BRS leaders continue to perceive themselves as kings and make a mockery of democracy by claiming the people made a mistake in electing the Congress.”
The Assembly session also saw heated exchanges over encroachments and demolition drives. During the debate, the Chief Minister played old videos of KCR and KTR supporting removal of encroachments during their rule. He responded to recent criticism from KTR on demolition drives.
Revanth Reddy offered to set up a Fact Finding Committee. He said the panel could compare encroachment regularisation and demolitions during the BRS and Congress governments. He said, “If we fail to protect our city and restore our lakes, future generations will never forgive us.”
The Chief Minister also spoke about the HYDRAA initiative and lake restoration efforts. He said these programmes are important for the city’s future.
Later, he outlined the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document. He said the state aims to become a one trillion dollar economy by 2034. He added that the goal is to reach a three trillion dollar economy by 2047.
He also spoke about plans for an AI policy. He described it as necessary to deal with what he called an “impending AI Tsunami.” He further mentioned regional development plans under CURE, PURE, and RARE zones. He also announced green measures such as tax waivers for electric vehicles and free retrofitting of e auto rickshaws.
Revanth Reddy also referred to former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and P.V. Narasimha Rao. He said his government remains committed to reforms and development despite what he described as lack of cooperation from the opposition. (Maxim News)
