2-Year-Old Mauled To Death By Stray Dogs In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A two-and-a-half-year-old girl named Deepali died after being mauled by two stray dogs on Friday. The unfortunate event took place while Deepali was playing with her sister outside a construction site in Gayatri Nagar, Hyderabad, where their parents worked. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Deepali succumbed to her injuries later that night, as confirmed by the police.

Fortunately, Deepali’s elder sister managed to escape unharmed as locals intervened and scared away the aggressive dogs, as reported by TOI. The family, originally from Chhattisgarh, relocated to Hyderabad five months ago in search of a brighter future. Both parents work as daily wage earners. Residents have been troubled by the problem of stray dogs, but feel frustrated as their complaints to municipal authorities have been ignored. Residents expressed their discontent, mentioning that the police have passed on their
complaints to municipal officials.

The incident occurred near the Amethi Mata Temple, within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station, according to SHO Vedprakash Sharma. Shankar, along with his family, had been residing near the temple in a makeshift shelter for several months.

On Saturday morning, while Shankar and other family members were out searching for work or begging, the stray dogs attacked Shankar’s daughter as she followed them. Despite efforts to chase the dogs away, the girl sustained severe injuries and tragically passed away on the spot.

The police are taking necessary measures in response to this incident, confirmed the SHO. Residents of the area have long been troubled by the menace of stray dogs, but their complaints to municipal authorities have reportedly gone unaddressed. The police have taken note of these concerns and forwarded them to the municipal officials for further action.
