Watch: Asaduddin Owaisi urges KCR Govt to add few castes in BCs

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Supremo and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi requested the Telangana State Commission for Backward Classes (TSBCC) to recognize the Ahir Yadav and other communities from Hyderabad as Backward Classes.

He said that members of Ahir Yadav, Gavili, Sarollu and other such communities were socially and educationally backward, and hence, they deserve a place among the BCs.

Owaisi submitted a representation to TSBCC Chairman BS Ramulu and members Vakulabharanam Krishnamohan Rao and Juluru Gouri Shankar here on Friday.

The BC Commission assured to look into the concerns raised by Owaisi over urgent need to include more castes among backward classes, considering their present social and economic condition.

In his representation, Owaisi pointed out that the government had initiated the process of recognizing certain castes and communities which are socially, economically and educationally backward for their inclusion among the backward classes.

He said though the communities of Ahir Yadav, Gavili and Sarollu belong to North India, they have made Hyderabad as their home for the last 200 years. “They deserve BC status and there should be no discrimination because their mother tongue is Hindi,” he said.

“Though Ahir Yadav, Gavili and Sarollu communities belong to North India, they have made Hyderabad as their home for the last 200 years,” Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi said.
