Hyderabad, July 8 (Maxim News): Hyderabad has a privileged to hold the prestigious 62nd session of Indian Historical Records Committee which would be inaugurated by K. Srihari, Deputy Chief Minsiter of Telagnana on 10 July at Dr MCR HRD Institute .
This two day session organized by Telangana State Archives and Research Institute in collaboration National Archives of India , Ministry of Culture Govt of India ,New Delhi, will be attended by the learned Directors, Vice chancellors , Historians, Academicians and eminent scholars from different Archives, Universities and other historical institutions of India.
The National Archives of India, New Delhi is the Secretariat of Indian Historical Records Committee (re-designated Indian Historical Records Committee in the last constitution). The Indian Historical Records Committee (IHRC) is an all India Forum of creators, custodians and users of records which was set up in 1919 to advice the Government of India on all issues connected with the management of records and their use for historical research. The IHRC is headed by the Union Minister of Culture and comprises 134 members including agencies of the Government of India, nominees of the Government of India, representatives from the State/UT Archives, Universities and Learned Institutions. The IHRC has so far held 61 sessions. The 62nd Session of the IHRC is being held in Hyderabad auspices of Telangana State Archives, Government of Telangana, Hyderabad.
The Committee has two adjuncts bodies (i) Editorial Committee to examine and approve papers based on archival sources for being presented at the Sessions of the Committees and (ii) Standing Committee to review the action taken by the Committee on its recommendations and express its views on the agenda for the Committee’s meeting. Secretary, Ministry of Culture acts as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Committee. The two days Session will comprise Inaugural and Business Session on the first day and Academic Session on the next day. A total of 25 papers based on the original sources of post 1600 of Indian history will be presented by the Scholars on various aspects of history.
Its an honour that Telangana State Archives, one of the oldest Archives of India established in 1896, was selected to conduct this session being held after 63 years . First time it was held in the year 1954 . The 61st Session was held in patna in 2013. The State Archives is having the richest and the largest holdings of records with around 40 millions of documents pertain to Bahmani, Adil shahi, Qutb Shahi, Mughals and Asaf Jahi dynasties . It posses the oldest document date back to 1406 A.D .
The Deputy Chief Minister will also inaugurate an exhibition on the theme of “Quit India Movement:” being organized based on the original archival sources . He will also release the Publications compiled by Telangana State Archives.
Raghvendra Singh, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Culture and also the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Indian Historical Records Committee, Ms. Ranjeeva R. Acharya, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, Education Department, Akunuri Murali, IAS Director General, Telangana State Archives, Ms. Zareena Parveen, Director ,Telangana State Archives will speak on this occasion. Pritam Singh, Director General, National Archives of India, Government of India and Secretary, Indian Historical Records Committee will present report on the Development of Archives.
