Workshop On Expressive Arts Therapy held At Army Public Schools

Secunderabad, Aug 5 (Maxim News): Ms Chandni Sharma, an Expressive Arts therapist conducted workshop for the students of Army Public Schools, RK Puram and Bolarum in Sucunderabad today.

Expressive Arts therapy is the use of visual art, music, dance/movement, drama, poetry/expressive writing, play and sand tray within the context of psychotherapy, counselling, rehabilitation or health care. The therapist and client move freely between these varied arts modalities during the sessions.

Students wholeheartedly participated in the wokshop which will better equip them to deal with life challenges. The Principals and the management are attempting at enhancing the mental discipline and happiness quotient of the children.

This form of therapy is based on the premise that people can heal and ensure their well-being through the use of imagination and the various forms of creative expression. Ms Chandni emphasises on the process of creation rather than the aesthetic appeal of the final product, unlike in traditional art forms. It is about reclaiming our innate capacity as human beings for creative expression of our individual and collective human experience in an artistic form.

Ms Chandni Sharma is an Expressive Arts Therapist licensed by Conseil International de la Danse CID-UNESCO (France), and is a final year Psychology Honors student at LSR College, New Delhi and hopes to complete her doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA) complimented the management, staff and Principals of both the Schools for their continued efforts at achieving excellence. (Maxim News)
