114 Rafale Fighter Jets Worth Rs. 3.25 Lakh Crore: Deal To Be Signed Soon
Delhi/Hyderabad, Feb 10 (Maxim News): Around 114 Rafale fighter jets will be purchased for about Rs 3.25 lakh crore. There are chances that this deal will be done with France as part of the intention to increase the capabilities of the Indian Air Force. It seems that the Ministry of Defense has given the green signal to this deal. However, the French President will visit India in a few days. During that time, the deal for the purchase of Rafale fighter jets will be signed. If the deal gets clearance, it will be the biggest deal in the process of acquiring weapons. The deal will be done in such a way that about a hundred Rafale fighter jets will be manufactured in India. High-grade fighter jet technology will be transferred as part of the Make in India program.
India already has 36 Rafale fighter jets. India took delivery of the last of the Sea variant in December 2024. It has since placed an order for 26 Naval Ariens. It is known that the Navy has signed a deal to buy the M version of the fighter jets at a cost of about Rs 63,000 crore. The MRO has also purchased four twin-seat trainer aircraft as part of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Agreement. The M version of the Rafales will be deployed on the warships INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya.
The C-version jets are already deployed with No. 17 Squadron in Ambala and No. 101 Falcons in Hasimara, Bengal. Rafale fighter jets have already participated in several operations. They were used by IAF fighters in Operation Sindhur. It is learnt that Scalp air-launched cruise missiles were dropped during that operation. Rafale fighter jets can fire multiple types of missiles. These include the air-to-air missile Meteor, the strike weapon Hammer, the state-of-the-art e-warfare suite Spectra, advanced radar, and targeting systems.
Some components of the fighter jet will be manufactured at Tata Advanced Systems in Hyderabad, but the final assembly will take place at Dassault’s production facility in Merignac. (Maxim News)
