Hyderabad: The Rachakonda SHE teams have arrested 23 persons on the charge of eve-teasing in the last two weeks. All the delinquents attended counseling session conducted by the Rachakonda SHE teams at the Police Commissioner’s Camp office at TTI, Nagole, LB Nagar. Parents and family members of the accused were also present.
In one case, one Bandigari Vinay, 19, a student of Ashoknagar Boduppal has been stalking a 17-year- old girl of Nagole. Police said on April 17, Vinay trespassed into the girl’s house when no one was present at the home and misbehaved with her and pulled her hand. At the same time, victim’s brother appeared and caught him red handed. Following a complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused.
In another case, a 35-year-old housewife of Uppal stated that one V V Ramesh Reddy, 22, of Chandrika Sadan Apartment, Vijayapuri Colony, Uppal has been demanding her to spend time with him since 10 days. He was following her and blackmailing her that he would kill her and her family members if she did not agree. On her complaint, police registered a case and arrested him.
In another case, one R Akilesh, 18, of Bhagath Singh Nagar, Neredmet was harassing a 14-year-old girl by using unparliamentary language and has been harassing her on phone calls. On April 17, Akilesh picked up a quarrel with the girl and forced her to accept him. Following a complaint, the Neredmet Police arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody.
Police said one Jeeramoni Rohit, 19, a student of Gungal village was harassing a girl of Class X in the name of love and sent messages to her mother-in- law’s cell phone stating he loves her. When she informed her parents, they warned him severely. But he never changed and sent her phone messages. On her father’s complaint, the Yacharam police arrested and remanded him to judicial custody.
A 31-year-old woman, working as a security guard at Kamineni Hospital at LB Nagar lodged a complaint with the police that one Jangaiah, 43, MD of L&T RSFMS Co. befriended her has been harassing of fulfill his desire. He also frequently visited her house and threatened her of dire consequences if she failed to comply with his demand. The Vanasthalipuram police arrested the accused and remanded him to judicial custody.
Apart from these cases, the SHE teams caught 18 eve-teasers in decoy operations and through Whatsapp complaints from different areas of Rachakonda while they are teasing girls at different junctions/bus stops/work places and colleges in the Rachakonda area. All were booked under petty cases and counseled by professional counselors in front of their family members at CAW Cell LB Nagar.
