Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav has criticized the BJP for trying to lead the country towards dictatorship.  Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has responded to the criticism of opposition leaders.  He said that the issue of the Jamili elections is not new.  There has been a demand for these elections since 1983.  He clarified that this does not violate the constitutional structure, state rights, or the spirit of federalism.  He said that similar Jamili elections are also being held in countries like Germany and Sweden.

Meanwhile, the Center is planning to hold the Jamili elections in 2029.  It is preparing to hold the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously.  For now, the Center has put aside the issue of local body elections.  However, official sources have said that by 2034, local body elections will also come under the Jamili ambit.
