3 BJP MLAs suspended from Telangana Assembly on Day 1 of Budget session

The first day of the budget session commenced with the suspension of the three BJP MLAs for the rest of the Assembly session on Monday.

In midst of the budget speech by Finance Minister T. Harish Rao, the Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav moved a motion seeking suspension of the BJP legislators. The three MLAs – T. Raja Singh, M. Raghunandan Rao and Etela Rajender were suspended for rest of the session.

The BJP MLAs were charged with disrupting the budget speech and protesting the decision of the State Government not to invite the Governor to address the joint session of the Legislature on the first day of the budget session.

Raising slogans, the BJP MLAs left the House and later sporting black ‘kanduvas’ staged a sit in outside the Assembly gate.

Congress MLAs walk out from Telangana assembly

Congress legislators walked out of the Telangana Assembly on Monday after their repeated attempts to raise some issues were ignored by the chair. The Finance Minister had begun to read out the budget, when the Congress MLAs led by Bhatti Vikramarka sprang to their feet and were heard arguing with the chair. As din prevailed in the House, their arguments could not be heard, and an MLA Sreedhar Babu was heard stating that the Congress was walking out as they were not being allowed to speak.

Later speaking to mediapersons, Vikramarka and others complained that they were trying to raise a point of order but were not given a chance to speak. “This amounted to stifling our voice and we will raise the issue with people” they said. The MLAs also complained that neither the chair nor the leader of the House cared about their objections.
