372 mm Rainfall In 24 Hours: Death Toll Exceeds 60 In Wayanad
Wayanad/Hyderabad, July 30 (Maxim News): The death toll has crossed 60 in the landslide incident in Wayanad, Kerala state. According to the latest information, so far 63 people have drowned in this valley. About 100 people were injured and they are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Meppadi.

Tens of people were trapped under the rubble. All of them are calling their loved ones from under the ruins and crying to save them. Local media is broadcasting the scenes related to this on TV.
The havoc took place in Meppadi, Mundakkai town, and Chural Mala in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The first night, before 1 o’clock in the night. Mundakkai town was hit by a landslide due to heavy rain. A landslide occurred at 4 am in Chural Mala while the rescue operation was going on there. Water entered nearby houses along with the school which had turned into a camp. Filled with flood water and mud. Officials revealed that 372 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the state in just 24 hours.

Local media reported that half of the town of Chural Mala was wiped out in this attack. Around 400 families were trapped there after the bridge collapsed in Chural Mala. Roads and bridges were completely washed away due to flooding. This is causing severe disruption to rescue operations.
The Kerala State Disaster Management Force, Fire Brigade, National Disaster Response Force and Army are continuing the relief operations in the rain. About 225 military personnel participated in the duties. So far 22 0 people have been rescued by the authorities and all of them have been shifted to safe places.

The videos of Wayanad are coming out one by one. A car was washed away in the strong flowing water. 150 people were trapped in a madrasah in Mundakkai. Landslides occurred three times within 4 hours. Roads and bridges were washed away. As the railway lines were also damaged, the authorities stopped the train services everywhere. (Maxim News)
