The incident occurred while the child was descending alone from the third floor. A suspected technical fault caused the elevator to stop midway, leaving the boy stranded inside. In a state of panic, he began screaming for help, which quickly alerted nearby residents.

Residents promptly contacted the police, who immediately called in the fire department and GHMC’s Disaster Response Force (DRF). Rescue teams arrived swiftly and used gas cutters to break through the elevator’s grill doors to free the boy.

Throughout the hour-long rescue operation, officials provided the child with oxygen and encouraged his parents to speak to him, helping keep him calm and prevent shock.

Once freed, the boy—who had briefly lost consciousness—was rushed to Niloufer Hospital. Doctors later confirmed that his condition was stable, bringing relief to his family and the local community.

Nampally MLA also arrived at the scene, addressing the media and assuring residents that the incident would be thoroughly investigated. Authorities are still working to determine how the child ended up alone in the elevator and whether any safety lapses contributed to the incident.
