9 Lakh People Have Renounced Indian Citizenship In Five Years: kirti Vardhan Singh
Delhi/internet/Hyderabad, Dec 12 (Maxim News): Minister of State for External Affairs kirti Vardhan Singh has said in Parliament that nearly 9 lakh Indians have renounced their Indian citizenship in the last five years. he revealed this data in a written reply to a question in Parliament regarding indian citizenship. He said that the government maintains annual records of people renouncing Indian citizenship.
According to the records, 11,89,194 Indians renounced their citizenship between 2011-2018. Data suggests that over 20 lakh people in India have renounced their Indian citizenship in the last 14 years. This is a sign of an increase in the number of Indians opting for foreign citizenship, according to figures from the Ministry of External Affairs. The number of Indians acquiring foreign citizenship has increased further in recent times. Union Minister kirti Vardhan Singh said that nearly 9 lakh Indians have renounced their citizenship in the last five years.
The Ministry of External Affairs has revealed that many Indian youth who dream of working abroad are falling prey to fraudulent job offers. Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh has said that Indian youth are being lured by fake Gulf job offers and are falling prey to smuggling networks for jobs in Gulf countries. He said that such cases have come to his attention recently. The Union Minister said that most of these start with believing in job offers on social media.
He said that the ministry of External Affairs is creating awareness among the youth through advertisements on social media and other media to prevent such incidents. He said that action is being taken against unregistered agents. As part of this, the details of 3,505 unregistered agents have been included in the e-Migrate portal by October 2025. (Maxim News)
