Rahul Gandhi’s fight against the Modi regime is the second freedom movement: Bhatti

Hyderabad, March 26: Telangana Congress Legislature Party leader Bhatti Vikarmaraka said that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s fight against the corrupt Modi Govt was like another freedom struggle which Congress party fought against the British to get freedom for the country. “Our democracy is in danger and it must be protected,” he said.

He was addressing the day-long Sankalp Deeksha held in Boriguda of Asifabad Mandal on Sunday in response to a call given by the All India Congress Committee for a nationwide protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha member following the verdict of a Surat court awarded him the two-year sentence.

Bhatti Vikarmaraka, whose ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Yatra’ Peope’s March entered its 11th day on Sunday, said that Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification was unconstitutional and it was done with the sole aim of intimidating the entire opposition. However, he said this time BJP picked the wrong person to threaten. “Rahul Gandhi belongs to the family of martyrs. His grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for their country’s unity and integrity. His mother Sonia Gandhi is an inspirational personality. She revived the Congress party in difficult times and brought it back to power for two terms. Rahul Gandhi has grown up watching struggles and challenges each day. Therefore, he will never bow down to Modi or any other forces,” he said.

He said that the contribution of the Nehru-Gandhi family to the nation was unforgettable. After independence, he said that the country could not produce even a needle. But Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru developed the country in agriculture, industry, and other areas, especially through public sector institutions, and within a few years, India was counted among developing countries. He said Pandit Nehru laid the foundation for employment among the weaker sections by establishing government institutions. Indira Gandhi distributed land to the landless poor through land reforms and took up the nationalisation of banks to ensure weaker sections get access to credit. It was Rajiv Gandhi who brought the computer revolution to this country and laid the foundation of the technological revolution to compete with the countries of the world in the 21st century. He said that the Nehru-Gandhi family has rendered many services for this country.

The CLP leader said that the Congress party fought for the country’s independence and gave many sacrifices. Therefore, he said that the Congress cadre needs to be prepared for a tough struggle and sacrifices as the present regime was no different from the British. He said Rahul Gandhi was being punished for exposing the corruption and loot of public wealth by Adani, Lalit Modi, and Nirav Modi. He said that the BJP Govt was now using defamation as a tool to target the opposition leaders as they did in the case of Rahul Gandhi. He said that the verdict of the Surat court was faulty and it would be challenged in the higher court.

“It is a crime for Rahul Gandhi to even question Modi’s policy of handing over profit-making airports, ports, coal mines, and the public sector to Adani and Ambani?” he asked.

Bhatti said that Rahul Gandhi is the leader who walked from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to save democracy. People from all walks of life joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He said Modi Govt got afraid of the rising popularity of Rahul Gandhi and PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah feared that Rahul Gandhi would become the next Prime Minister. Therefore, they hatched a conspiracy to attack Rahul Gandhi indirectly so that they could help their friends Adani and Ambani.

The CLP leader said that the BJP wants to survive by inciting hatred between religions, causing bloodshed, and gaining power through divisive politics. BJP has no intention of developing the country, he said adding that only Rahul Gandhi had the potential and intention to establish peace and brotherhood within the country. Bhatti said that those who believe in democracy, peace, love, and brotherhood should condemn the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as MP and support his movement against the corrupt Modi Govt.
