Hyderabad, July 14 (Maxim News): A Cyber Crime and Drug Awareness Program was conducted at Phoenix School by the Bhavani Nagar Police as part of the Hyderabad City Police’s community policing initiative.
The programme aimed to educate students about rising cyber threats, responsible online behaviour, and the dangers of drug abuse while encouraging them to report cyber crimes through official channels.
The awareness session was led by N. Karuna Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), Bhavani Nagar Police Station, along with Sub Inspectors G. Srikanth and K. Shiva Kumar, supported by police personnel.
Officials interacted with students and explained how awareness and timely reporting can help prevent cyber fraud and substance abuse among young people.
Cyber Crime and Drug Awareness Program Educates Students on Online Safety
During the session, police officers highlighted several forms of cyber crime that commonly target students and the general public.
These included online financial fraud, phishing scams, OTP fraud, fake social media accounts, cyberbullying, identity theft, and online gaming addiction.
Officials advised students never to share sensitive personal information such as passwords, bank account details, ATM PINs, or One Time Passwords (OTPs) with anyone.
They also urged students to verify suspicious phone calls, text messages, emails, and website links before responding or clicking on them.
The Cyber Crime and Drug Awareness Program also focused on creating awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Police officers encouraged students to stay away from narcotic substances, make informed decisions, and seek guidance from parents, teachers, or law enforcement authorities if they encounter drug-related activities.
Students were informed about the importance of reporting cyber offences immediately to prevent financial losses and help authorities take swift action.
Officials advised victims or witnesses to contact the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or file complaints through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal whenever they encounter online fraud or cyber-related offences.
The programme forms part of the Hyderabad City Police’s ongoing community outreach efforts to promote cyber safety, responsible digital behaviour, and drug-free campuses.
Such awareness initiatives are regularly organised in educational institutions to equip students with practical knowledge, strengthen digital literacy, and encourage responsible citizenship.
