Clean Houses And Surroundings For 10 Minutes Every Sunday For Prevention Of Dengue

Hyderabad, May 16 (maxim News): GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi said that on the occasion of national Dengue prevention Day, every Sunday morning at 10 am families should clean their house and surroundings for 10 minutes

On the occasion of National Dengue Day, the city mayor conducted an awareness program on dengue prevention at the mayor’s camp office today, the mayor said that by the year 2023, awareness programs should be organized at every house with the theme of ‘Let’s eliminate dengue disease by using participatory methods’. To prevent mosquitoes, the surroundings of the house should be cleaned from time to time without water storage. She said that the lids should be tight in the overhead water tank inside the house and above the house to prevent mosquito larvae from being stored. Rubber tires, drums, plastic items and flower pots should be cleaned without water storage in the house surroundings. She said that damaged items, plastic and polythene items should be removed without water storage and they should not be habitable for mosquitoes. She said that mosquitoes can be prevented by removing weeds and growing basil, mint, citronella grass and lemon grass.

She said that it should be ensured that sewage does not accumulate in the surroundings of the house. She said that the water going out of the house should be arranged in such a way that it goes into the drainage and into the pit. She said that small puddles and pits that lead to water storage in the surroundings of the house should be buried. Dengue, chicken pox and malaria diseases should be eradicated. She said that for the prevention of mosquitoes, oil balls should be applied in the ponds to prevent mosquito larvae. Dropping Gambusia fish into ponds can deter mosquitoes. Actions should be taken to prevent garbage from being dumped wherever it falls.

If a dengue positive case is registered, measures are being taken to prevent it from spreading to others through the sprayer, she said. Later, the city mayor said about the ward office. GHMC will contribute to the quick resolution of problems by setting up ward offices. Officials of Town Planning, Water Works, Entomology, Sanitation and other departments are always available in the ward office and are working hard to solve the problems,she said.

On this occasion, City Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi released an awareness poster and pamphlets on precautions to be taken to prevent dengue.

Chief Entomologist Dr. Rambabu, Jubilee Hills Deputy Commissioner Rajinikanth, Khairatabad SE Rajitha, sanitation staff and others participated in this program. (Maxim News)
