High Court Notice To KCR Govt On Formation Of Ward Committee Under GHMC

Hyderabad, June 20 (Maxim News): Forum for Good Governance has filed a Public Interest Litigation into the appointment of ward committees under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limit.  

The bench heard the petition and heard the argument that the non-appointment of ward committees is against Article 243 of the GHMC Act.

The Court, which has registered the arguments, issued a notice to the Secretary of Municipal Administer and Urban Development Department and GHMC Commissioner to give an explanation.  the next hearing was adjourned to August 21.  

In this regard, Forum for Good Government Secretary M. Padmanabha Reddy issued a statement saying that Municipal Division Committees should be formed to increase public participation in solving local problems.  Resident Welfare Association members.  He said that the law directs that these committees should be formed with representatives of Swachham and Seva  Organizations.  But is alleged that the government opened ward temples with 10 officials as if there was no need for public participation.   (Maxim News)
