IT Raids at Residences of Congress and BRS Leaders in Hyderabad

IT Raids | Hyderabad: Amidst heightened political tensions as the state gears up for elections, the Income Tax Department has launched a series of raids in Hyderabad, targeting several political figures associated with the Congress Party and the BRS (earlier TRS) Party.

Early this morning, Income Tax officials raided the residences of C Parijata Narasimha Reddy, the Mayor of Barangpet, located in Balapur, and K Lakshma Reddy, the Congress Party’s MLA candidate in Maheswaram constituency. Raids were also conducted at the homes of several other party members, including KLR, who contested the elections under the Congress banner in the Maheswaram constituency.

In addition, the IT department raided the residence of Lakshmardi, a local businessman known for purchasing Ganesh’s laddoos in Balapur, and the homes of other prominent BRS leaders.

The raids have been ongoing since 5 am today, and the IT department has not yet released any official statement regarding the purpose of the searches. However, it is speculated that the raids may be linked to allegations of tax evasion and money laundering against the political leaders and businessmen involved.

The raids have come at a politically sensitive time, as the state is gearing up for Assembly elections in November. Both the Congress Party and the BRS Party have accused each other of using the IT department to target their political opponents.

The situation is still unfolding, and we will provide further updates as they become available.
