The Role of PO And APO is Active in the Efficient Management of Polling: Vijayalakshmi

Hyderabad, November 06: Deputy Collector Vijayalakshmi said that the role of presiding officers and assistant presiding officers is active in the efficient conduct of polling. A training program was conducted for the newly appointed POs and APOs at the GHMC headquarters on Monday.

Deputy Collector Vijayalakshmi, who participated in this training program, said that POs and APOs started the mock poll at 5:30 a.m. on the polling day and cast about 50 votes in the EVMs in the presence of the respective polling agents. C (Close, Result, Clear) to be cleared and entered in the proforma allotted to them. After that polling should start at 7 a.m.

He said that the information related to electoral mother roll, supplementary roll, ASD (absent, shifted, death), postal ballot, above 80 years, and disabled persons should be checked in advance at PO and APO.

He said that if there is a technical problem in EVM, Ballot Unit, and Control Unit in advance, steps should be taken to exchange them through the concerned sectoral officials.

He said that if there is a problem in the VVPAT after the polling starts, steps should be taken to change it only.

He said that special measures should be taken on tender votes, challenge votes, and test votes on polling day. He said that if the polling agent expresses doubt about the concerned voter, such votes should be recorded separately.

He said that if voters do not have their EPIC card, they should be given the right to vote by showing any of the 12 identity cards prescribed by the Election Commission.

He said that the poll should be closed at 5 p.m. and the last person standing in the queue should be assigned the number 1 and given the right to vote.

He said that the polling registration percentage should be provided to the officials every two hours. He said that all the facilities are being provided to the polling staff who are performing their duties.

Joint Commissioner Mangathayaru, Master Trainers Manipal, Vijayalakshmi, Sunanda, Venkataraman Reddy, and others participated in this meeting.
