High Court Order To Provide Gunman Security To Sirisha

Hyderabad, Nov 24 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court on Friday directed the State Election Commission to provide security to Karne Sirisha (Barrelakka), an independent candidate of Kolhapur in Nagar Kurnool district. The High Court said that security should be provided with a gunman till the elections are over and security should be provided for the public meetings she attends.

It is not enough to provide security only to the candidates of recognized parties. Security should also be provided to candidates who claim that they are under threat. Candidates are responsible for the Election Commission. The High Court said in its order that the police cannot simply check cars.

Karne Sirisha (Barrelakka) has filed a petition in the High Court seeking security with 2 plus 2 gunmen as she was attacked by unknown persons two days ago. To this extent, the Chief Secretary of the state, Home department, the Chief Election Commissioner and the state election commissioner have been requested to issue instructions.

Some people attacked barrelakka and her younger brother during election campaigning in Vanacharla village of Pedtakottapally mandal under Kollapur. Her younger brother was seriously injured.

Barrelakka said that she will not back down, “Some people are trying to attack me because they are afraid that I will split the votes. I know who attacked my brother. They also know which party they belong to. But, I will not reveal their party name. Even if I lose my life. I will not back down in this fight, said Karne Shirisha alias Barrelakka who stood as an independent candidate in the Assembly elections in Kolhapur of Nagarkurnool district.

“Those who have won four or five times and the ruling party are afraid of me. That is why they are trying to attack me with mobs. An elder brother named Madhu, who was campaigning in my support, was fired from his software job. Those who stand by are threatened. But I fear nothing. Even if I take one step back now, it will be a thousand steps back in the future, it gives a wrong signal to the youth.  (Maxim News)
