High Court Judge Inquiry Demanded Into Waqf Board Records Sealing

Hyderabad, December 10 (Maxim News): Journalists for Justice (JFJ), a Forum of journalists committed to addressing issues of injustice, particularly those affecting minorities in Telangana, has urged for urgent inquiry by a sitting High Court Judge into the illegal sealing of the records of the TS Wakf  Board on the pretext of alleged irregularities.

JFJ believes that a thorough inquiry by a High Court Judge will uncover the truth and bring to light the real culprits involved in doing away with the waqf properties worth lakhs of crores of rupees.

Convener of the JFJ Shoukat Ali Khan it has come to our attention that the record room of the state Wakf board was sealed in February 2017 on the orders of the Former Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, alleging malpractice in the board.

However, it has been six and a half years, and no meaningful investigation has taken place. Meanwhile, endowment properties worth millions have changed hands,  depriving the Muslim community.

JFJ, as a forum of journalists, called upon the incumbent  Chief Minister, Sri  Revanth Reddy, to urgently open the sealed record room and initiate an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding its closure.

This unprecedented act of sealing the record room, instead of taking action against wrongdoers, has allowed them to continue their activities without any hurdles.

The sealing of the record room has not only obstructed justice but has also led to the deliberate destruction of crucial records. At a time when digitization is prevalent across departments, the intentional destruction of Waqf Board records raises serious questions about transparency and accountability.

JFJ demanded that a High Court in-service judge be appointed to thoroughly investigate the matter.

Legal actions should be taken to nullify any court judgments made during the period of sealing, as the board was unable to produce records in courts when demanded.

Furthermore, an inquiry should be conducted into why no action was taken against the then chairman and board officials for the alleged malpractices that led to the sealing of the record room.

It is essential to investigate the legality of the sealing orders, including the specific section of the law under which the records were sealed. Additionally, action should be taken against the government officials responsible for issuing these orders without a clear legal basis.

JFJ will submit a detailed memorandum to all members of the assembly and council, urging them to take immediate action. Our goal is to ensure justice and to rectify the wrongs committed by the Waqf Board and the Muslim community. Proper utilization of waqf properties can eliminate the need for government welfare schemes and contribute to the overall development and welfare of Muslims in the region, he said.

JFJ expressed the hope that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will look into the matter and take swift action to address the injustice that has persisted for far too long.
