Hyderabad Sunburn New Year Eve Party Cancelled, Organizers Face Legal Action

Hyderabad, Dec 26 (Maxim News): Hyderabad’s highly anticipated Sunburn event, scheduled to ring in the New Year at Madhapur, has been abruptly cancelled, throwing a wrench into party plans and leaving organizers facing legal repercussions.

The cancellation came after authorities caught wind of ticket sales being conducted online through BookMyShow before the requisite permissions were obtained. In response, BookMyShow immediately halted ticket sales and the Cyberabad Police swung into action, issuing notices not only to the platform but also to event organizers and officials involved.

The severity of the situation is evident in the disappearance of the event from BookMyShow’s Sunburn platform, while tickets for a similar event in Visakhapatnam remain available.

According to Additional DCP Narsimha Reddy, the organizers attempted to obtain approval for a New Year’s event under the misleading name “Sunburn Musical Night.” However, their application remained pending, raising red flags about the premature ticket sales.

The investigation revealed that tickets ranging from Rs. 1499 to Rs. 4999 were sold on BookMyShow before official clearance. This unauthorized sale has triggered legal consequences, with Additional DCP Reddy confirming a cheating case against event organizer Sumanth. Notices have also been served to the nodal officer and managing directors of BookMyShow who facilitated the ticket sales. (Maxim News)
