Telangana Assembly Budget Session Likely In Second Week Of February

Hyderabad, Jan 30 (Maxim News): The Telangana government is making arrangements to hold the budget session of the Assembly in the second week of February. The Central government will present the budget on the 1st of February. It is reported that the State budget is planned to be introduced based on the items included in it.

As the Parliament Elections are going to be held this year, the Central government is going to introduce a ‘Vote on Account‘ budget.

However, the discussion is going on whether to introduce the “Vote-on-Budget ” in the state of presenting the full budget for the year 2024-25.  If the full budget is introduced, there will be a thorough discussion of the demands, for this, Assembly meetings should be held for at least two weeks.  It seems that if Vote-on-Account is introduced, the session may not last more than 4-5 days.  As there is a campaign going on that the Lok Sabha election schedule can be released anytime after the second week of February, the government hopes to end the state budget meetings before then.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has already given orders to prepare the budget based on actual revenues, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka is holding successive meetings with ministers and senior officials of all departments for that purpose.

it may be recalled that Revanth Reddy ordered for conducting of the caste census in the state.  In this connection, the government is planning to introduce a bill related to this in the upcoming budget session.  In 1931, when the British government took a census of the country, they took caste-wise calculations.  After that caste wise calculations were not done again.  The Congress party is demanding a nationwide caste census for the welfare of the poor. As part of this, the Chief Minister has decided to take up caste census in the state as soon as possible.  As he is determined to carry out the caste census as promised in the manifesto, the government is working on the relevant bill.

The Chief Minister entrusted BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar with the responsibility of drafting this bill.  The Bihar government has recently conducted a census survey in two phases.  Earlier in Karnataka, a caste census was conducted in the name of a Socio-Economic and Education survey.  If necessary, CM Revanth Reddy has issued orders to the officials to study in Bihar and other states where the caste census has already been taken.  It is suggested that the methods adopted there should be thoroughly studied and bills should be drafted so that better procedures can be implemented in the state.  (Maxim News)
