Speaking to media persons after holding a review meeting with the party leaders and workers on the next phase of the election campaign for the Lok Sabha elections on Wednesday, Waliullah Sameer noted that his campaign had garnered strong response across all seven Assembly segments within the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. “The campaign is in full swing in Charminar, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Malakpet, Gosha Mahal, Chandrayangutta, and Karwan constituencies. Hundreds of Congress workers are conducting door-to-door campaigns, organising bike rallies, and holding public meetings with the slogan ‘Haath Badlega Halaat,'” he explained.

Sameer criticised the MIM, which has held the Hyderabad seat since 1984, for neglecting the Old City and failing to address the community’s needs. He added that the BJP has also fallen short of its promises. “From Charminar to Qutb Shahi Tombs, every stone in Hyderabad’s heritage tells a story of neglect by selfish politicians. The heart of Hyderabad is now beating for change, not empty promises.”

Hyderabad’s potential as a tourist hub has been held back by the narrow political agendas of both MIM and BJP. The people living in Hyderabad’s Old City deserve more than ancient landmarks – they deserve a lively, modern community that reflects the vibrancy of this culturally rich city. It’s time to move past the politics that dwell on the past and focus on building a future. The Congress party promises to revitalise the Old City and make it a modern destination rivalling Istanbul. Decades-old promises still echo through our streets, but action – not just words – will truly transform Hyderabad,” he stated.

Sameer pointed out that many Hyderabadis are frustrated with the divisive politics propagated by both MIM and BJP. “To break free from the chains of divisive rhetoric, we need a leader who stands for unity and prioritises progress over polarisation,” he said.

The MIM has consistently won the Hyderabad seat since 1984, but the constituency has stagnated over the past 40 years. There’s been little to no improvement in infrastructure, literacy rates, basic amenities, employment, or other crucial indicators. Only the Congress party can bring the necessary change to Hyderabad,” he said.

Asaduddin Owaisi, who often presents himself as the sole voice of Indian Muslims, has done considerable harm to the community through his divisive rhetoric. His statements have inadvertently bolstered the BJP and the Sangh Parivar nationwide. Election data shows that the MIM has, on occasion, facilitated BJP victories in several constituencies,” he alleged.

Sameer criticised Owaisi’s recent comments condemning the Congress party for not allocating enough tickets to Muslim candidates. He explained that Congress does not base ticket distribution on religion but considers various factors, including the candidate’s chances of winning. According to Sameer, the MIM’s approach has stifled the growth of Muslim leaders from other political parties in Telangana, using aggressive tactics to suppress their rise.

He highlighted that Congress has a history of nurturing Muslim leaders who have served in critical roles – MLAs, MLCs, MPs, ministers, and even Chief Ministers in states like Maharashtra. In contrast to MIM, the Congress party does not promote communal leadership but represents all communities, not just Muslims or Hindus.

Sameer urged the people of Hyderabad to reject MIM and BJP for their divisive approach to politics. “The BJP is busy handing out certificates of Hindutva, while MIM is validating Muslim leadership in other parties,” he said. “This dangerous practice of promoting communal divides must end.” He announced that the Congress party would intensify its campaign across all seven Assembly segments within the Hyderabad constituency. He said that several high-profile Congress leaders from national and state levels are expected to join the campaign in Hyderabad in the coming days. (Maxim News)
