Five days later, wildlife experts captured the elusive feline after placing strategic traps and cages around the airport.

The leopard’s eventual capture was a source of relief for the airport community and the surrounding areas.

A team from the Nehru Zoological Park evaluated the leopard’s health and decided to release it back into its native habitat or transfer it to the zoo for observation. The unexpected encounter highlights the importance of conserving wildlife and coexisting peacefully with humans.

As human development encroaches on natural habitats, interactions like this are becoming more common.

The fate of the captured leopard is yet to be determined, but its brief adventure at the airport serves as a reminder of the fragile balance between man and nature and calls for continued efforts to preserve our planet’s precious biodiversity.

It is known that the animal was sighted in the airport area near the aircraft repair center in the early hours of April 28 near Gollapalli under Shamshabad municipality in Ranga Reddy district.

The presence of the leopard triggered panic among residents. The officials have advised them to be careful.

According to officials, the big cat jumped over the boundary wall of the airport near Gollapalli, triggering an alarm in the Airport Control Room. The airport authorities immediately alerted the Forest Department, which launched an operation to catch it. Two cubs are believed to be accompanying the leopard.

With the help of CCTV footage, the officials identified the area where the leopard was seen and were focusing their efforts there.

There have been a few instances of leopards straying into areas close to human habitations on the city outskirts. In 2020, a leopard had strayed into the Rajendranagar area and was seen resting in the middle of the road. It was later trapped by the Forest Department.
