Lift Collapsed In Mecca: Two Indian Haj Pilgrims Died
Makkah/Internet/Hyderabad, June 7 (Maxim News): A tragedy occurred during Haj. Two Indian Haj pilgrims were killed in an elevator accident in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The accident took place on Thursday, June 6, 2024 when a lift collapsed in Makkah, Azizia district. The pilgrims who died in this incident were identified as MD Siddique (74) from Katihar district and Md. Abdul Latif (64) from Kishanganj in Bihar.

According to the information of the victims, the Indian pilgrims were accommodated in building number 145 in the Asia district, in the incident, one pilgrim fell from the elevator shaft in the cellar and died of severe injuries, while another got stuck in the elevator doors and was crushed to death. At first, there were reports that some other pilgrims were also injured in the accident.
However, some reports revealed that the rest of the pilgrims were not injured and were safe. However, the Indian authorities have not yet officially announced the deaths of the pilgrims.

After this accident, it is reported that the pilgrims were moved from the building to another building nearby on the same evening. However, it seems that the majority of the Haj pilgrims from Bihar complained that there were no basic facilities in their accommodation. (Maxim News)
