However, as of now, the ED has not initiated an enforcement case information report (ECIR). Contrary to assertions, no charges have been leveled against former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Sources within the ED clarified that their involvement hinges on the Hyderabad police incorporating sections falling under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Explaining further, a source from the ED stated, “Based on our information, the only section that potentially implicates PMLA is criminal conspiracy. However, the agency’s progression depends on the addition of other sections, such as extortion. While the case has recently been brought before the high court, we are preparing an affidavit. In the interim, we have requested details from the investigating police.”

Dispelling assertions made by Medak BJP MP M Raghunandan Rao regarding the ED filing a case against KCR and others, ED sources denied such actions against the former CM.

Additionally, charges have been pressed against two fugitives—former chief of the Special Intelligence Bureau T Prabhakar Rao and Sravan Kumar, a senior executive in a vernacular media outlet. Investigators disclosed that over 1,200 phones were tapped with the assistance of service providers.

Notably, the chargesheet does not implicate any BRS leaders. Police have invoked multiple charges, including conspiracy, tampering with evidence, violations under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, cyber terrorism, and various sections of the Information Technology Act. Furthermore, section 166 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to public servants disobeying the law with intent to cause harm, has been invoked.
