Rotten Food To Patients In Gandhi, NIMS Hospitals

Hyderabad, Aug 23 (Maxim News): Patients and their attendants are being served poor-quality food in Gandhi and NIMS hospitals, which are for the poor. This matter came out during the inspections of the food safety authorities.

In the past three days, food safety officers have inspected government hospitals and about 20 private hospitals in Hyderabad.

On the 20th of this month (Tuesday), inspections were conducted in the canteens of Gandhi and NIMS hospitals as part of the special drive of the State Food Safety Task Force and GHMC Food Safety officials. Officials found that rotting vegetables and rotten lentils were being cooked in Gandhi Hospital and Idlis were being made with foul-smelling flour.

Notices To Both Hospitals

Officials found a similar situation in NIMS. Officers found that there were bad conditions in the canteens of these two hospitals where hygienic food was to be given to the patients as well as the attendants. The samples were sent to the lab. Officials said that notices will be given to the two hospitals in one or two days after receiving the reports. 

Officials said that some hospitals are following the standards. The officers explained that these inspections are being conducted on the orders of GHMC Commissioner Amrapali.  (Maxim News)
