Tempers flared within minutes of the session beginning, leading to a heated argument among members of Parliament. The situation escalated when Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee struck a water bottle on the table, resulting in a hand injury. The meeting was subsequently adjourned for a brief period to allow for first aid.

All India Majlis Ittehad Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi and AAP leader Sanjay Singh escorted Banerjee back to the meeting room. However, JPC chairman Jagadambika Paul deemed the incident a serious breach of conduct and imposed a one-day suspension on Banerjee.

Opposition members strongly criticized the behavior of BJP members and questioned the government’s consultation process for the Waqf Bill. They alleged that the bill was a politically motivated attempt to target Muslims.

Owaisi, a prominent voice on the issue, expressed deep concerns about the potential impact of the bill. (Maxim News)
