Trade license mandatory for firecracker shops: GHMC Commissioner

Hyderabad, Oct 24 (Maxim News): Shopkeepers selling firecrackers (firecracker shops) must obtain a temporary trade license from GHMC authorities. GHMC Commissioner Ilambarthi clarified that they will not be allowed to set up shop without a license.

He said that the trade license fee has been fixed at Rs.11 thousand for retail shops and Rs.66 thousand for wholesale shops. All the operators of fireworks shops must get a license and set up shops as per the rules. All those setting up firecracker shops will have to pay a fixed fee and obtain prior permission from the GHMC, he said. Application for a Temporary Trade Identification Number can be made through the Citizen Service Center/ GHMC website/ ( www.ghmc.gov.in ).

Trade license fees can be paid through demand draft, debit/credit cards, and net banking. Similarly, they were asked to give Aadhaar card and PAN card as proof of their identity. Fireworks shops should not be set up between footpaths and residential areas, he said. They want to set up shops with adequate fire safety in the open ground / big halls away from colonies and bastis. Firefighting equipment should be kept ready to put out the fire in case of any unexpected accident. It is advised to keep the surroundings clean at each stall.

It is suggested that fireworks should not be lit close to the shops under any circumstances and that the lights installed in the shop should use good quality electric wire. He said that if any untoward incident happens in the stall, it will be mentioned in the temporary trade license certificate that the stall holder is responsible for legal action.

It is advised to strictly follow the orders issued by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board. He said that all orders issued by the Supreme Court/High Court/State and Central Governments from time to time should be strictly followed. It has been clarified that the manufacture, sale, and use of series crackers/ladies which are firecrackers has been banned and their sale will not be allowed.

The commissioner has clarified that the provisional trade license certificate will be canceled in case of violation of GHMC Act 1955/Courts/TSPCB/Government orders and guidelines. The commissioner said that a team of officials from the Deputy Commissioner, Zonal Commissioners, and Head Office will come and conduct surprise inspections of the stalls. (Maxim News)
