Question Added In Caste Survey: Asking Any Family Faced Threats Or Discrimination When Visiting Place Of Worship

Hyderabad,  Nov 7 (Maxim News): Telangana’s first Backward Classes survey, which began Wednesday with a house-listing exercise, includes a newly added question: has any family member faced threats, coercion, or discrimination when visiting a place of worship? This question is among several last-minute changes to the survey’s questionnaire, sparking curiosity over its scope and focus.

The questionnaire went through multiple rounds of revisions in recent weeks, resulting in around eight versions before the final one was settled. Now containing 56 main questions and 19 sub-questions, the survey addresses issues from education to housing and social experiences, including this particular question on worship-related discrimination.

Additions in the Final Version:

 Questions were added to explore if respondents experienced coercion or discrimination when visiting places of worship.

 Inquiry about any family member who has had an inter-caste marriage.

 A new question asks at which stage respondents may have dropped out of school.

Information on materials used in household construction.

 Question on whether family members received invitations from other castes.

: A query about family involvement in scavenging activities.

 Question regarding unobstructed access to public resources and spaces. (Maxim News)
