Godavari Becomes Desert Even Before Summer

Bhadrachalam/Hyderabad, Feb 6 (Maxim News): The Godavari River, which is usually full of water, is now almost dry—even before summer has started.

Earlier, thanks to the Sundilla Barrage, the river used to look like a big pond near the Godavarikhani coal belt bridge in Peddapalli district. But now, with no water left in the barrage, the river has only a small flow, and dunes have appeared in many places.

This has created a serious problem for the 1.5 lakh people in Godavarikhani city, who depend on the river for drinking water. The wells used for water supply are now exposed, and even devotees coming for a holy dip are facing difficulties.

With peak summer just weeks away, authorities need to take immediate action to ensure people get enough drinking water. (Maxim News)
