Delhi/Hyderabad, Feb 27 (Maxim News): The Union Cabinet has approved the Waqf Amendment Bill based on the report of the Parliamentary panel. It is learnt that the Union Cabinet approved the Waqf Amendment Bill in its meeting held on February 19 based on the report of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
The report was tabled in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the beginning of the 2025 Budget Session of Parliament amid strong opposition. This resulted in a brief adjournment of proceedings in both the Houses. Opposition MPs alleged that some of the JPC reports were deleted. But the Centre has denied the allegation.
It is understood that the Union Cabinet approved the JPC report last week, and the line has been cleared for the Waqf Property Registration Regularization Bill in the second half of the budget session, which will begin on March 10. (Maxim News)
