President Mukherjee turns 81 today

The Rashtrapati Bhavan will mark the 81st birthday of President Pranab Mukherjee today with a number of functions.

President Mukherjee will flag off a ‘100 Million for 100 Million’ Campaign organised by the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation in which about 5000 children will participate.

The campaign aims to mobilise 100 million youth and children for 100 million underprivileged children across the world, to end child labour, child slavery, violence against children and promote the right of every child to be safe, free, and educated, over the next five years.

Three books ‘Rashtrapati Bhavan: From Raj to Swaraj’; ‘Life at Rashtrapati Bhavan’ and ‘Indradhanush – Volume II’ will be released by Vice President M. Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of the President.

From Raj to Swaraj, a book for children recreates the story of Rashtrapati Bhavan from its inception as Government House, a symbol of imperial might, to the present day, where it stands for the very essence of Indian democracy.
