Telangana Govt to Auction Housing Board Flats and Plots to Fund Affordable Housing Projects

Hyderabad, June 8 (Maxim News): In a major move to raise funds for affordable housing, the Telangana government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has announced the auction of vacant plots and Rajiv Swagruha flats owned by the Housing Board. The collected revenue will be used to construct new low-cost housing units in Outer Ring Road (ORR) regions and other districts, making homes accessible to the economically weaker sections.

Housing Development Corporation Commissioner Gautam confirmed the plan and said that a formal notification regarding the auctions will be issued on June 20. The Cabinet Sub-Committee has already given its nod for the proposal.

Key Details of the Auction Plan:

The auction will include a wide range of properties, including fully completed, partially completed, and incomplete flats, along with open and vacant plots.

Flats & Towers Under Rajiv Swagruha Project:

  • Gajula Ramaram, Pocharam, Khammam (Polepalli): 100 to 150 flats per tower to be sold in bulk.
  • Eligible Buyers: Builders, housing societies, group buyers, and organizations seeking multi-storey residential buildings.

Properties and Locations in the Auction:

  • Rangareddy District:
    • 514 open plots in Thorrur
    • 20 plots in Kurmalguda
    • 3 plots in Chandanagar
    • 69 plots in Bahadurpally
  • Medchal-Malkajgiri District:
    • 159 completed flats in Bandlaguda
    • 5 towers in Gajula Ramaram
  • Pocharam:
    • 601 completed flats
    • 6 incomplete towers with flats of various sizes
  • Mahabubnagar District:
    • 111 open plots in Potula Madugu
    • 45 plots in Amistapur
  • Khammam District (Polepalli):
    • 8 incomplete towers
    • 3.38 acres of vacant land
  • Kukatpally Housing Board Phase 4:
    • 7.33 acres of vacant land
    • Two additional plots (4,598 sq. yds & 2,420 sq. yds)
  • Nampally:
    • 1,148 sq. ft. of vacant land
  • Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar:
    • 2,605 sq. yds of an incomplete community hall
    • A nearly completed function hall (Cellar, Stilt + G+1 structure) covering 22,285 sq. ft. with 37,030 sq. ft. of parking area

Commissioner Gautam emphasized that the auctions aim to unlock unused housing infrastructure and land while generating funds to fuel the government’s mission of affordable housing for all. He added that detailed guidelines and auction procedures will be released in the upcoming official notification.

This strategic step is expected to ease the housing burden in urban and semi-urban regions of Telangana while bringing idle assets into productive use.
