Sharmila | Idupulapaya, July 8: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Y.S. Sharmila has made an emotional appeal to the Telangana government to establish a memorial park in Hyderabad in honor of her late father, former Chief Minister Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
YS Sharmila, who paid floral tributes at YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya on the occasion of YSR Jayanti, expressed her hope that the Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy would consider her request positively.
Speaking to the media, YS Sharmila said she has formally written to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi regarding the proposal and is hopeful that the state government will act swiftly to honor the memory of the iconic leader who served undivided Andhra Pradesh with distinction.
Sharmila Urges YSR Memorial Park in Hyderabad
“YSR’s contributions to public welfare and development are etched in the hearts of the people. A memorial park in Hyderabad, where he served as Chief Minister and launched many of his flagship welfare programs, would be a fitting tribute,” Sharmila stated.
YS Rajasekhara Reddy, popularly known as YSR, remains a towering political figure in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. His welfare-oriented governance and mass appeal earned him a lasting legacy across the Telugu states.
Sharmila added that such a park would not only serve as a tribute but also inspire future generations about the values of service and dedication exemplified by YSR.
