Parliament Monsoon Session Begins Amid Heated Opposition, Adjournment Motion Tablet
New Delhi/Hyderabad, July 21 (Maxim News): The Monsoon Session of Parliament commenced today with both Houses convening at 11 a.m., setting the stage for a stormy session. Opposition MPs, led by the INDIA alliance, wasted no time in submitting multiple adjournment motions on key national issues.
Prominent among the concerns raised were the recent Pahalgam terror attack, the government’s handling of Operation Sindoor, and discrepancies in the Bihar voter lists. Opposition leaders are demanding answers from the Centre over alleged intelligence failures and delays in apprehending those responsible for the terror incidents.

This session marks the first official meeting of Parliament since the Pahalgam attack and the highly publicized Operation Sindoor, both of which have triggered intense national debate. With both ruling and opposition parties firmly entrenched in their positions, the 21-day session — scheduled to run until August 21 — is expected to be politically charged.
On the legislative front, the central government is preparing to table eight new bills, alongside deliberation on seven pending ones. Among the key proposed legislations are:
- National Sports Governance Bill
- Geoheritage Sites and Georelics (Preservation and Management) Bill
- Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill
- National Anti-Doping (Amendment) Bill
- Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill
- Income Tax – 2025 Bill
In a major development, the Centre is also set to introduce a resolution for the impeachment of Allahabad High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma, who faces serious corruption allegations.
With contentious issues and critical legislation on the agenda, political analysts predict intense debates, possible walkouts, and frequent disruptions throughout the session.
