Hyderabad Rains: Water Levels Surge In Himayat Sagar, Osman Sagar; HMWSSB On High Alert

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), has urged all departments to be more prepared for flooding.

This occurs after ongoing rainfall in upstream regions caused water levels in Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar to rise.

Along with senior officials, Ashok Reddy, the managing director of the HMWSSB, toured the Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar reservoirs on Friday.

He examined input levels and evaluated the general state of affairs at Himayat Sagar. He emphasized that in order to protect public safety, reservoir gate operations must be conducted without compromising.

High Alert Issued After Heavy Rains Forecast

Ashok Reddy told officials to stay on high alert, citing the weather department’s prediction of more intense rains.

In order to react quickly to any emergency, he gave them instructions to expand patrolling around the reservoir regions and use CCTV cameras for round-the-clock monitoring.

The MD warned revenue and other relevant departments to remain ready since inflows were already beginning to enter the reservoirs.

In order to carry out relief efforts if necessary, he instructed officials to regularly evaluate flood situations and work closely with the district administrations of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, the GHMC, and the HYDRAA teams.

Inspection of the pressure filter at the Gandipet conduit

Later, Ashok Reddy inspected the pressure filter that was put in place at the Gandipet conduit, which provides Hyderabad with drinking water.

He gave officials instructions to make the most of it. He also went to the Manikonda office of O&M Division-18 to examine current operations and water supply arrangements.

CGM Brijesh, GMs Srinivas Reddy and Santosh, and representatives from the transmission department were on the inspection team.
