NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2025 Set To Make History With Record Participation And Green Goals
Hyderabad: The 14th edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon, powered by IDFC FIRST Bank, is all set to take place on August 23 and 24, 2025, promising not just a test of endurance, but a celebration of community, charity, and environmental responsibility.
Recognised as a World Athletics Label Race and India’s second-largest city marathon, this year’s event has already set a new benchmark with a record-breaking 28,000 registrations, drawing participants from across India and overseas.
Big Names, Big Launch
At a grand event held at Hyatt Place, Banjara Hills, the official T-shirt and finisher medal were unveiled by:
- Nikhat Zareen, Olympian and two-time World Boxing Champion
- Sanjeev Sahi, ED, Production & Coordination, NMDC
- Srinivas Gutti, Regional Head, SP & Telangana, IDFC FIRST Bank
- Rajesh Vetcha, Race Director, NMDC Hyderabad Marathon
Nikhat Zareen praised the event for encouraging fitness among citizens and called it a key force in promoting an active lifestyle.
A Race with a Purpose: Fitness, Community, Charity
Race Director Rajesh Vetcha emphasized that the marathon is about more than just running.
“This is a race with a heart. It’s about impacting society positively—environmentally, socially, and emotionally,” he said.
- ₹1.29 crore has already been raised for charity, with a target of ₹3 crore
- 29 NGOs have partnered with the event
- Over 1,500 runners are running for a cause
Top corporate donors include Arcesium, HBL Engineering, and Human Development Trust.
A Greener, Smarter Marathon
In a step toward sustainability, this year introduces the innovative “Opt-Out, Help-Out” program, giving participants the option to skip T-shirts and contribute to environmental goals instead.

Other green initiatives include:
- Partnerships with ragpickers and waste management agencies
- A push to become carbon neutral
- Eco-friendly materials for event collateral
Massive Community Involvement
The event is backed by the Government of Telangana, Hyderabad Runners Society, and city authorities, making it a city-wide celebration. Over 40% of participants are coming from outside Telangana, highlighting its national and international appeal.
President of Hyderabad Runners Society, Arun Kumar Kaliappan, encouraged citizens to cheer for runners and join in the fitness movement.
Race Schedule and Routes
Event Dates: August 23–24, 2025
August 23 (Saturday):
- 5K Fun Run – 7:00 AM at HITEX Grounds
August 24 (Sunday):
- Full Marathon – 4:30 AM from Necklace Road
- Half Marathon – 5:30 AM from Necklace Road
- 10K Run – 7:00 AM from HITEX, Madhapur
All races will culminate at Gachibowli Stadium.
The scenic route will pass Hyderabad landmarks like:
- Hussain Sagar Lake
- Jubilee Hills
- Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge
- Bio-Diversity Park
