Ramanthapur Tragedy: Ex-Gratia Of Rs. 5 Lakhs For Deceased

Hyderabad, Aug 18 (Maxim News): The government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the victims of the Ramanthapur incident. Five people died on the spot after a chariot carrying a procession during Sri Krishnashtami celebrations in Gokul Nagar, Ramanthapur, was hit by electric wires.

The procession was held on Sunday night due to Krishnashtami. The vehicle pulling the chariot was stopped as it was undergoing repairs. Later, the youths pulled the chariot forward by hand. In this process, the chariot hit the electric wires. As a result, five of the nine people pulling the chariot died on the spot. Four are undergoing treatment with serious injuries. Doctors revealed that one of the four died while undergoing treatment.  (Maxim News)
