Flood Warning For Osmansagar, Floodgates Likely To Open
Hyderabad, Aug 20 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Wednesday issued a flood alert for Osmansagar reservoir, one of the city’s drinking water sources.
The water level at Osmansagar is presently just two feet away from touching the full tank level (FTL), indicating the reservoir is nearing its maximum capacity. With only a minimal rise needed, the water level is expected to reach the brim shortly.
“Due to inflows into Osmansagar, there is a high probability that the gates may be opened this afternoon to discharge floodwaters,” a warning issued by the HMWSSB said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the water board has been operating the floodgates of Himayatsagar from July 7.
