“From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, every Indian has the right to live and work anywhere in the country. Many people from Telangana also stay in other states. If someone does wrong, punish them according to law, but no one has the right to say ‘leave this place,’” Rao stated.

The BJP leader also accused the Congress government in Telangana of spreading false claims about fertilizer shortage to create panic among farmers.

According to Rao, during the 2025 Rabi season (October 2024 – March 2025), the central government supplied 12.47 lakh metric tonnes of urea to Telangana, while the requirement was only 9.87 lakh metric tonnes. Out of this, the state government sold 10.43 lakh metric tonnes, and the remaining 2.04 lakh metric tonnes remained as opening stock for the Kharif season.

For the current Kharif season (up to August 2025), the state required 8.30 lakh metric tonnes, and the Centre has already supplied 5.18 lakh metric tonnes. In total, 7.22 lakh metric tonnes of urea are available in Telangana as of now.

“Despite this, the state agriculture minister falsely claimed there was no stock. This created fear among farmers, who rushed to fertilizer shops. Middlemen and black marketeers took advantage of this panic, leading to an artificial shortage. This situation is called a ‘run on fertilizer,’” Rao explained.

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured adequate fertilizer supply despite global challenges. Rao alleged that the Congress party created this crisis only for political gain, further troubling farmers who are already facing difficulties.(Maxim News)
