1.80 Lakh Idols Immersed In Hyderabad, More 25 Thousand To Be Immersed: CP CV Anand
Hyderabad, Sept 7 (Maxim News): Hyderabad CP Anand inspected the Vinayaka immersions taking place around Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad on Sunday (September 7), he said that 1.80 lakh idols have been immersed in Hyderabad so far.
He said that 25 thousand more need to be immersed. He said on this occasion that the immersions have been carried out in a grand manner.
The Ganesh immersion procession began at 6.30 am on Saturday. 900 large idols are yet to be immersed, including small idols, 25,000 idols are to be immersed today. The CP said that the immersion procession lasted for 40 hours.
He said that 12,034 idols have been registered online, of which 6,300 idols have been immersed till Saturday. Apart from these, he said that 1.20 lakh idols have been immersed in baby ponds and other ponds in Hyderabad. The GHMC says that a total of 1.80 lakh idols have been immersed in the Hyderabad Commissionerate.
The police said that they had been on a 40 hour watch for two days without sleep. They said that with the coordination of the Khairatabad Ganesh utsav Samiti members, the immersion was completed ahead of schedule. They said that they had convinced the ganesh Mandapam organizers for ten days and this time they had taken down the Ganesha idols earlier. As part of that, they said that the idols of the South Zone were taken down first. They said that the immersion was done first because there were sensitive areas there.
After that, the idols from other areas were taken out and immersed. This time, the height of the idols was higher. The number of idols taller than 40 feet increased this time. This delayed the procession, he said.
On Saturday night, there were minor clashes during the procession, and 5 cases were registered. He said that he congratulated the police for completing the immersion peacefully. CP Anand said on this occasion that the immersion procession was carried out as per a plan. (Maxim News)
