Mir Alam Tank Park | Hyderabad, Sept 13 (Maxim News): The Building and Land Owners’ Association of Shivrampally, Rajendranagar, raised objections to the proposed development of parks under the Mir Alam Tank Development Projects.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, members of the association urged the Telangana government to reconsider the location of Project 3 (Cluster Park) and Project 4 (Dargah Precincts), which are currently planned for the southwest side of Mir Alam Tank near Hassan Nagar and Shivrampally.
The association, represented by Dr. Hidayatullah Khan (President), Sailesh Jain (Secretary), Mohd Javeed from Golden Society, whistle blower Shahbaz Ahmed Khan and other members, argued that these projects should be relocated to the northeast side of the tank. They suggested integrating the proposed facilities with Nehru Zoological Park, which abuts National Highway 44.
Mir Alam Tank Park Projects
According to them, the land adjoining the zoo is largely under government and zoo control, requiring minimal acquisition and ensuring that the sanctioned budget of approximately Rs. 430 crore remains intact.
Explaining their position, the association noted that the Mir Alam Cable Bridge project itself was conceptualized due to its low land acquisition cost, with the alignment passing over the tank instead of densely populated areas. They emphasized that similar fiscal prudence should guide the park development projects.
“Spending crores on land acquisition when government-owned land exists nearby is financially imprudent and open to challenges under principles of fiscal responsibility,” the association said.
They further argued that integrating the cluster park with the nehru zoo would enhance visitor experience and boost revenue.
Revanth Sarkar
With the zoo already drawing lakhs of visitors annually, the addition of boating facilities, musical fountains, and recreation areas on the northeast side could provide immediate and sustained tourist inflow.
The association submitted that adopting this alignment would serve the larger public interest by combining financial responsibility with social justice.
Concluding their appeal, the association requested the “Revanth Sarkar” to relocate Projects 3 and 4 to the zoo side. They stated that such a move would ensure both economic viability and broader community benefit. (Maxim News)
